Renovation Project (Melbourne, Australia)
This bedroom renovation transformed a simple, dated space into a calm and contemporary retreat. The aim was not to overdesign the room, but to create a warmer, more refined environment through better use of materials, lighting, furniture and proportion. A soft neutral palette was introduced to make the bedroom feel brighter and more spacious, while warm timber and layered textures added comfort and character.

The client wanted to move away from the existing plain and dated bedroom and create a more sophisticated, comfortable space. The key priorities were a stronger feature behind the bed, better visual balance, warmer materials and a more cohesive overall look without making the room feel heavy or overly decorated.
– THE PROCESS : From Idea to Design
The project began by reviewing the existing room, its proportions and natural light. We explored different layouts, material combinations and feature-wall ideas before developing the preferred direction. A moodboard and material palette helped define the warm neutral aesthetic, followed by design development and visualisation to refine the furniture, lighting, textures and overall composition.
– THE FINAL CONCEPT : Calm, Warm & Refined
The final concept centres around a light stone-inspired feature wall framed by warm timber elements, creating a subtle focal point behind the bed. Soft furnishings, minimal pendant lighting and carefully selected furniture complete the space, resulting in a bedroom that feels calm, cohesive and contemporary while remaining comfortable and timeless.
